A motel (Motor Hotel) is a hotel which is for a short stay, usually for a night, for motorists on long journeys. It has direct access from the room to the vehicle (for example a central parking lot around which the buildings are set), and is built conveniently close to major roads and intersections

Largest
In 2006, Guinness World Records listed the First World Hotel in Genting Highlands, Malaysia as the world's largest hotel with a total of 6,118 rooms.[2]

Oldest
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the oldest hotel still in operation is the Hoshi Ryokan, in the Awazu Onsen area of Komatsu, Japan which opened in 717.[3]

Burj Al Arab
is the tallest building used exclusively as a hotel.[4] However, the Rose Tower, also in Dubai, which has already topped Burj Al Arab's height at 333 m (1,090 ft), will take away this title upon its opening.[5][6][7]

Living in hotels

A number of public figures have notably chosen to take up semi-permanent or permanent residence in hotels.
Actor Richard Harris lived at the Savoy Hotel while in London. Hotel archivist Susan Scott recounts an anecdote that when he was being taken out of the building on a stretcher shortly before his death he raised his hand and told the diners "it was the food".[8]

Akumal Beach Resort: Traveler Reviews

We stayed at the akumal beach resort from april 18th -april 26th.What a wonderful resort. As mentioned in earlier reviews, the rooms are not like at a 4 or 5 star resort, but they are clean and comfortable. Just be careful with your valuables. anything of value, keep in the safe. of all the places that i have stayed in Mexico, this is the safest, but i still had a sterling silver bracelet stolen. it was my fault, i left it on the vanity and went to the beach, but just beware. unfortunately, this has happened to us in more than one resort in mexico. I must say though, that if something needs to be fixed in your room, ask. They are in your room in a flash and also with a security person. As far as the beach goes, it is spectacular. We have been to several beaches in Cancun and this one is cleaned on a daily basis. if the seaweed happens to reach the shore, the workers are out there cleaning it up. There are several types of fish swimming around. You really don't have to go out too far to see lots of pretty fish. We swam out pretty far past the catamaran to see the Sea Turtles. I did not see them, but my daughter and husband did. I did see very large barracudas! We walked in to Akumal one day from the beach. It was a 10 min. walk, not very far at all. Beware though,, there are several topless sun bathers on your way there. We had our children with us, so it was a bit interesting explaining to them why people go topless. The town of Akumal was really dusty and hot. We went into the super Chomak grocery store, but there wasn't any terrific buys there. If you want to get really good buys go to Playa Del Carmen. We bought T Shirts for $4.00 each and the town is adorable. We also visited Xel Ha while we stayed in riviera maya. It was a very nice ecological park, but Xcaret is much better. The shows at Xcaret are spectacular. Staying at the Akumal Beach Resort is really quite close to all the sightseeing. It took us 20 min. by bus to go to tulum and the other excursions were only 10 min. The food at Akumal Beach Resort is wonderful. Everything was soo fresh. I have stayed at several 4 star resorts and they did not have food as fresh as here. The buffet at night never got boring and breakfast was always wonderful. The cappucino at the bar is the best. We definitely will go back again. I wish it was next week!
